DataPoint will run nightly backups of servers collocated in the data center. These servers attach to DataPoint's private backup network. Restores are available at any time.

Product Description

Setup Process:

• Managed backups are order on a per server basis. Each server needs the following:
• Customer needs to have 1 network card in their server that is not in use that DataPoint can use to backup the server.
• This network card is plugged into a private backup network that connects to the Backup server.
• A Backup Exec software agent is loaded on the server in order to perform backups.
• A software agent is loaded.
• Once the server is cabled to the backup network, the second network card is configured with the private IP address, and the Backup Exec software is loaded, the server is then ready to be backed up.

Backup Configuration:

• Each server has a Full Backup done once a week.
• Each server has an Incremental Backup done every day (except the night of the full backup).
• The size of 2 full backups and 8 incremental backups comprises the space used by the customer for backups.
• A standard Data Backup and an Operating System - System State backup are performed on each server.
• The following are software that needs an additional Backup Exec software agent:
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Oracle
• Open File Backup
• Etc, etc,

Data Restore:

• A customer can requests a data restore at any time. The data will begin being restored within 1 hour of the request.

Benefits

• The customer does not need to spend money on their own backup software and tape drives.
• The customer does not need to worry about backups running or failing, this is all handled by DataPoint
• No tapes to rotate.
• Data that is backed up is located outside of the rack the customer is collocated in and it can be replicated offsite.
